Accounts Payable Clerk

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Clerk to join a fast-paced finance team on a 6-month fixed term contract. This role is ideal for someone with strong purchase ledger experience who thrives in a busy environment and enjoys maintaining accuracy while meeting deadlines.

About the Role

As Accounts Payable Clerk, you’ll play a key role in supporting the smooth running of the company’s financial operations. You’ll be responsible for processing invoices, reconciling supplier statements, managing payments, and assisting with month-end tasks. Working closely with the finance team and wider departments, you’ll ensure all purchase ledger processes are accurate, compliant, and delivered on time.

Key Responsibilities

• Process and code supplier invoices and credit notes accurately and efficiently

• Ensure invoices are approved in line with company policies and payment terms

• Reconcile supplier statements and resolve any discrepancies

• Allocate payments and maintain accurate supplier account records

• Investigate and clear aged balances and historic items on the ledger

• Process staff expenses in line with company policy

• Support the finance team with month-end processes and ad hoc reporting

Skills & Experience Required

• Previous purchase ledger or accounts payable experience (essential)

• Strong understanding of accounting processes and reconciliation techniques

• Confident using Excel and accounting systems (experience with NetSuite advantageous)

• Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy

• Organised and able to prioritise workload effectively in a high-volume environment
