Hitchin, SG5 (office based) - Up to £28,000 per annum - Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm
Are you an experienced Accounts Administrator with a background in the property sector? We’re recruiting on behalf of a well-established organisation in Hitchin for a detail-oriented and proactive individual to join their busy finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a close-knit, supportive team in a fast-paced environment where accuracy, efficiency and sector-specific knowledge are key. You’ll be responsible for a range of accounting duties, supporting the day-to-day operations of the client accounts function and playing a vital role in financial reporting and administration.
Important: Due to the nature of this fully office-based role, only applicants who live within a 20–30 minute commute of Hitchin (SG5) will be considered. Previous experience in property management accounting is essential.
Accounts Admin (Property) – Key Responsibilities
- Carrying out daily bank reconciliations across multiple client accounts
- Uploading rent payments, invoices and receipts to internal systems
- Investigating and resolving queries from landlords and clients
- Producing and updating Debtors Reports; following up on unpaid invoices
- Assisting with payment runs, refunds and deposit releases
- Issuing and re-issuing invoices and credit notes in coordination with colleagues
- General accounts administration including banking and filing
- Supporting credit control and arrears management
Accounts Admin (Property) - Skills and Experience Required
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in accounting or bookkeeping
- Solid understanding of property sector accounting and client accounts
- Strong working knowledge of accounts receivable/payable and reconciliations
- Proficiency in Excel, including good data entry skills and use of formulas
- Organised, efficient, and able to manage multiple priorities
- Clear and confident communication skills with a problem-solving approach
- Familiarity with property software systems such as Vebra Alto is desirable
