Are you a hands-on and dependable Warehouse Manager with a passion for team leadership and operational excellence? A well-established, forward-thinking business based in Hitchin is seeking a proactive and driven Warehouse Manager to take ownership of day-to-day warehouse operations.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a close-knit and supportive team where you can make a real impact. You’ll be leading a small warehouse team and will play a crucial role in maintaining an efficient, organised, and compliant operation.

Location: Hitchin
Working Hours: Monday - Friday 08:30 - 5:30

Warehouse Manager – Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a small warehouse team to ensure optimal performance, motivation, and teamwork.

  • Maintain a safe, tidy, and efficient warehouse in line with health and safety and housekeeping standards.

  • Oversee the full functionality of the warehouse – from goods-in, stock control, to dispatch and deliveries.

  • Plan and manage the dispatching of goods to meet strict KPIs and delivery schedules.

  • Accurately manage inventory through regular stock checks and system updates.

  • Ensure smooth coordination with logistics providers, engineers, and internal departments.

  • Monitor productivity and staff time management, adapting resources to meet shifting demands.

  • Maintain and create clear work instructions for dispatch processes and audit readiness.

  • Ensure warehouse equipment is maintained, inspected, and logged in compliance with company standards.

Warehouse Manager – Skills and Experience required:

  • Proven experience in managing a warehouse or stores department, ideally within a smaller, hands-on team environment.

  • Strong understanding of warehouse systems and processes, with working knowledge of SAP, Excel, and logistics platforms (e.g., DPD).

  • Confident in stock accuracy, dispatch planning, and warehouse performance metrics.

  • Forklift certification preferred.

  • Familiarity with Lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies.

  • Excellent organisational, time management, and communication skills.

  • A team player with the ability to motivate and get the best out of others.

  • Flexible and resilient with a problem-solving mindset.
