Are you a recent finance graduate with strong analytical skills and an interest in launching a career in tax? A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a motivated and detail-oriented Tax Assistant to join a successful and supportive finance team within a large and growing business. This is a hands-on, development-focused role offering exposure to a wide range of tax areas, with the potential to progress via a fully funded Professional Taxation Technician apprenticeship after a successful six-month probation period.
About the Role
Working closely with the Group Tax Manager, you’ll play a key role in supporting the preparation and organisation of tax and financial data across corporate tax, employment tax, VAT, and SDLT. You’ll gain valuable experience in reporting, reconciliation, and stakeholder communication, while developing the skills required to progress within the profession.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing capital allowances data and liaise with surveyors and suppliers
- Support data analysis for quarterly tax-sensitive accounts and corporate tax returns
- Maintain accurate documentation and financial records
- Help prepare PAYE Settlement Agreements in collaboration with the wider business
- Produce VAT reconciliations and support with quarterly VAT returns
- Assist in SDLT tracking and correspondence with internal stakeholders and external advisors
- Use systems including NetSuite and Excel to manage and analyse financial data
- Provide administrative and project support across a variety of tax processes
About You
This role would suit a graduate with a degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related subject who is eager to build a career in tax. Full training will be provided, with a strong pathway for progression.
Skills and Attributes
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to meet deadlines
- Confident using Microsoft Excel
- A team player with a positive, solution-focused attitude
Desirable:
- Previous experience in finance or tax (internship, placement year, or part-time role)
